Jean Fourquerand and his wife Jeanne DuPré

We are happy to announce that we have documentation for two heretofore undocumented ancestors, Jean Fourquerand and his wife Jeanne DuPré. Fourquerand made his reconnaissanceat the French Church of London, Threadneedle Street on 9 Sep 1688 when he was 22 years of age. No references were found for him until c. 1700 when the name Jean Fauqueran (sic) with a wife was on an undated list of “French, Swiss, Genevois, Germans and Flemish embarking in the ship named The Nassau to go to Virginia.” [Brock, Huguenot Emigration to VA,p. 33]

According to Cabell in Turff & Twigg (p. 135), he married Jeanne Dupré, daughter of John Dupré and his wife Marie. In c. 1714 Jean Forquerand (sic) was listed with a wife and two sons on the “General list of all the French Protestant Refugees living in the Parish of King William, Henrico County in Virginia.” Later documents show their sons were Moyse (Moses) and Pierre (Peter).

Jean Fourquerand had died by 6 Jun 1720 when his wife, identified as Jane Livereau (her second husband was Moses Livereau), presented his will at the Henrico court. Jeanne DuPré Fourquerand Livereau was still alive when she was named in her father’s 1734 will.

Moyse Forcuron (sic) married Susanne (surname unknown) and had issue. He died before 6 Sep 1751. His younger brother Peter married Joyce (surname unknown) by 7 Oct 1739 and died by Jun 1798 in Bourbon Co, KY and had issue.
