Hunting Huguenot Treasures with the SCHS

Today was an exciting day of preparation for the upcoming Fête. The selection of treasures from the magnificent collection of the SCHS is underway.

Molly I. Silliman,

Senior Archivist, SCHS; Virginia Ellison, VP of Collections, COO, SCHS; and Renée Marshall, Director of Genealogy & Research, HSSC

This group is a powerhouse of information and research and the Society is so fortunate to have this group preparing our exhibit.

Today began with an enthusiastic and informative planning session with the South Carolina Historical Society (SCHS). Renée Marshall and Elizabeth Gay met with Molly Silliman and Virignia Ellison of the SCHS for a planning discussion with regard to the upcoming Fête des Huguenots event in April. Oh, if you could have been a fly on the wall enjoying this conversation to hear all the wonderful items in store for the exhibit. Planning includes rare maps, journals, record books, diaries, Bibles, objects and more. Special exhibits will be installed in each of the SCHS galleries to feature curated items representing Huguenots and their descendants’ histories. Each gallery will have a docent to present content and answer questions.

Members and their guests will not want to miss this special exhibit. Sign up today! You may register online or call the office: 843-723-3235.
